Ares Kutaisi ended the 2025–26 season as runners-up in the Didi 10, the top tier of Georgian rugby. They did not win the title, and they have never won the Georgian Rugby Cup. The Didi 10 final was the furthest they have gone in the league they joined when it was restructured for 2020–21.

The route there was short and went through the lower divisions. Ares were formed in 2015 in a city that already had a rugby club: RC Aia Kutaisi, founded in 1966. The two now share the Aia Arena, also called the Kutaisi Rugby Stadium, which seats 4,860. Ares wear bordeaux and white, and the supporters call them Aresi.

They started in the Georgian Regional League and won it in 2015–16, which took them into the First League. They finished first again in 2019–20. That season was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but Ares led the table when play stopped and were awarded the title and promotion. So the club's step into the top flight came without a deciding match.
