Khvamli Tbilisi

Victory over Tao Samtskhe-Javakheti in the 2021–22 Georgian First League decider gave Khvamli Tbilisi something they had not had before: a place in the Didi 10, the top tier of Georgian rugby. The club had been founded in 2011 by the Gldani-Nadzaladevi Sports Centre, in a district on the northern side of the capital.

The route ran through the regional leagues. Khvamli won the Georgian Regional League East in 2019–20, but the pandemic meant no playoffs were held, so the club had to win promotion the following season. Mukhiani Arena holds 1,500.

The strength of the club lies below the first team. Its under-16 side were runners-up in 2019 and again in 2023, and the under-18s finished second in 2021. The best-known product is Davit Niniashvili, a winger and full-back who played for Khvamli from 2019 to 2021 before moving to Lyon and then to Stade Rochelais, and who plays for Georgia. Others who have won national caps while at the club include fly-half Luka Matkava and back-rowers Nikoloz Aptsiauri and Mikheil Gachechiladze.

In Tbilisi, Khvamli's local derbies are against Lelo Saracens and RC Army Tbilisi. The club is still new to the top flight, but each puts Gldani-Nadzaladevi against another part of the city.

The first Didi 10 season, 2022–23, ended in eighth place. The next brought fifth.
