Cork City

Cork is Ireland's second city. When Cork United went under, a new side took the vacant place in the League of Ireland in 1984. Two years later it settled at Turners Cross.

The ground holds 7,485, all seated.

What sits alongside those titles, though, is 2010. Two years earlier the club had gone into examinership; it was wound up, and supporters put it back together as Cork City FORAS Co-op, starting again in the First Division and buying back the rights to the name. The trophy cabinet was not the thing at stake that year.

Since then the club has moved up and down. Promotions out of the First Division came in 2011, 2019 and 2024; relegation from the Premier Division in 2018 and again in 2025. The 2017 title arrived in the middle of that run, which tells you the ceiling is real when the money holds.

The Munster Derby gives the season its edge — Waterford above all, with Limerick and Treaty United in the same argument about who speaks for the province.

The Rebel Army face another season outside the top flight, and the task is the one the club has completed three times already: win the First Division and go straight back up.
