Dinamo Minsk

Minsk carries the name Dinamo on more than a shirt. The club's ground, the National Olympic Stadium Dinamo, sits in the middle of the Belarusian capital and has lent the same word to the city's footballing life for most of a century — the team fans in white and blue call, simply, the White-Blues.

The peak came under the Soviet system: Dinamo won the USSR championship in 1982, a single title but one backed by three bronze-medal finishes, in 1954, 1963 and 1983, in a league that gave few clubs outside Moscow and Kyiv much room at the top.

Independence suited the club first. Dinamo took the Belarusian championship four years running, from 1992 to 1995, added a fifth in 1997 and a sixth in 2004, then waited two decades before winning it again in 2023 and 2024. They finished runner-up in 2025 but still picked up the Belarusian Super Cup that year, their first since 1994.

Games against BATE Borisov are known in Belarus as the classico; matches with FC Minsk carry the weight of a capital derby, and Neman Grodno remains an opponent from the Soviet-era fixture list. Sergei Aleinikov, who came through the club, was later named the best Belarusian footballer of the twentieth century, and Eduard Malofeev's name still belongs to the same generation that carried Dinamo through 1982.

The club dates itself to 18 June 1927 — not a founding decree, but the day of its first recorded match, the earliest date anyone has been able to document. That is where its own account of itself still begins.
