Fortaleza FC

Carlos Vives does not sing about Bogotá's football, but since 2025 he has held stock in it: the singer and former cyclist Rigoberto Urán became named shareholders of Fortaleza FC, a club built not around a stadium legacy or a derby but around a training ground. It started in Soacha on 15 November 2010, taking a licence and a place in the Primera B from the recently dissolved Atlético Juventud. In 2015 it merged with the amateur outfit C.E.I.F. and spent a decade playing under the name Fortaleza C.E.I.F., before splitting from the centre's founder, Carlos Barato, and reverting to Fortaleza Fútbol Club in January 2026.

Three times the club has reached the Primera A, and three times it has come straight back down. It went up first in 2013 after winning a promotion play-off despite losing the league final, stayed a single season, and dropped out again in 2016 following its second promotion in 2015. The third route up, in 2023, ran through a Torneo II final win over Cúcuta Deportivo. None of the three stays has produced a top-flight trophy, and the closest the club has come to a title anywhere is runner-up in the Primera B, in 2013, 2015 and 2023 — three finals, no wins.

Home games are played at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo in Bogotá, a 10,000-seat ground that replaced a spell at the Estadio Municipal de Cota between 2018 and 2020. The kit follows the club colours, white and dark blue, though supporters and local media often describe the team by a lighter pairing, celeste y blanco. Two nicknames run alongside each other: Los Amix, the one that has stuck in the press, and El Rey del Twitter, earned for how the club talks to its fans online rather than for anything won on the pitch.

What Fortaleza has not built in fifteen years is a rival. Bogotá's older clubs have their own long-settled enmities; this one arrived too late to be written into any of them, and it still has no Primera A title to put next to the three second-place finishes in the second tier.
