Neuenheim

Heidelberg divides its rugby loyalties across three clubs within a few miles of each other. What is now SC Neuenheim began as a football club in 1902 and took its present identity two decades later, growing into one of the largest rugby clubs in the country by membership, well past 500.

No German club has won the national championship more often. SC Neuenheim's first title came in 1912, against FC 1897 Hannover, and the most recent was in 2004. Between those two dates the club has rarely gone long without silverware: the women's side has been just as hard to dislodge, with twelve championships between 1988 and 2017.

The ground bears the district's name too, the SCN-Sportgelände Museumsplatz.

Two names run through the honours board more than most.

What sharpens every fixture is the address book: RG Heidelberg and Heidelberger RK play within the same city, and games against either are billed as the Heidelberger Derby.
