ÖHK-hallen holds 1,500 people and sits at the centre of a club that has needed a home of its own since the mid-1980s, when handball split away from the wider Önnereds sports club and became Önnereds Handbollsklubb in its own right on 5 June 1985.

Those ambitions have shown mostly in stretches, not straight lines. The women's team went down in 2010, came back in 2013/14, dropped again and returned to the Handbollsligan in 2017. What followed was a genuine climb: third place in the league in 2022/23, a Swedish Cup bronze in 2023/24 after losing the semi-final to Skuru IK and winning the third-place match, and then a run all the way to the Swedish Championship final in 2024/25, where Önnered lost out to IK Sävehof.
