When FK Ekranas went bankrupt, Panevėžys was left without a team worth the name. In early 2015 a new club was assembled on what Ekranas had left behind.

The first thing it won was the LFF taurė, in 2020, and it took penalties against Sūduva to do it. A year later the club was back in the final and Žalgiris took them apart, 1–5. That defeat sat alongside a Supertaurė won the same year, which is roughly the shape of those seasons.

Third place in A Lyga in 2022 turned into the title in 2023. The Supertaurė came again in 2024, and the LFF taurė returned in 2025, five years after the first one.

Home is the Aukštaitija Stadium, rebuilt in 2019 and holding 6,600 since. The team plays in red, with white detailing.

What the club has not done is grow slowly.
