Smorgon

The one trophy that sits alone in the cabinet came from the Grodno Region championship in 1997, won in the years when the club was neither a Soviet-era works team nor a professional outfit.

The club started as Stankostroitel , the team of the Smorgon optical machine-tool works, formed on 22 March 1987. The name went in 1993, replaced by Kommunalnik, and only later did the town's own name go on the shirt. An earlier side, Vilia, had played in Smorgon in 1978 and 1979 and is counted as the ancestor.

What the record actually shows is a decade of near-misses in the second tier. Third in 2003, third in 2004, third again in 2005, then second in 2006. The top flight lasted four seasons, 2006 to 2009, with eighth place in 2008 the high point, and Smorgon then spent more than a decade away before another runners-up finish in 2022 brought them back for a second spell that ran to 2025.

Home is Yunost , on Pyotr Balysh Street, a ground of around 3,000 seats in a town of that size.

Colours are a matter of some confusion: the federation lists red and black, while yellow and blue has been worn since 2008.

The cup has offered little — the last 16 in 2016/17 is as far as they have gone.
