Sogndal sits at the end of a fjord in Vestland, a municipality with a juice factory, Lerum, at its centre. The supporters' group carries the name Saftkokarane , the juice boilers.
The football section of Sogndal IL dates to 19 February 1926, and for most of the decades that followed the club's business has been the same one. It has won that division six times — 1981, 1987, 1990, 1993, 2010 and 2015.
The one final came earlier than any of it. In 1976 Sogndal reached the NM Cupen final and lost 2-1 to SK Brann.
The new place holds 5,622, of which 5,300 are seats.
