Vujadin Boškov arrived in Zurich in 1962 as a player and left two years later already coaching from the pitch, long before Sampdoria and the Cup Winners' Cup made his name across Italy. He wore the shirt of Young Fellows Zürich, one of two clubs whose merger, in 1992, produced SC YF Juventus — the other being SCI Juventus Zurigo, a side founded by Italian emigrants in 1922. The black-and-white stripes carried over from that second club, a direct nod to the Turin original its founders had left behind.

Most of what the club has to show for itself belongs to Young Fellows. In 1936 the team won the Swiss Cup; nine years earlier it had reached the final and lost. Between those dates and the merger, the Juchhof pitches saw Sándor Kocsis train there for a season before he moved on to Barcelona, and Alessandro Frigerio top the Nationalliga scoring charts in 1936/37. Željko Matuš, an Olympic champion with Yugoslavia in 1960, played up front for the club later in the decade.

None of that history keeps the club at any great height today. SC YF Juventus spent three seasons in the Challenge League in the mid-2000s and has since settled back into the lower tiers of Swiss football, currently in the Liga Classic, the fourth division. Matches against FC Baden carry the sharpest edge of any fixture on the calendar, even without a name attached to the rivalry — Zurich's own derby, the one between FC Zürich and Grasshopper, belongs to a different level of the game entirely.

Home games are played at Sportanlage Juchhof, a 600-seat ground on Vulkanstrasse that replaced the larger Utogrund in the mid-2010s. It is a modest setting for a club that once fielded a World Cup scorer, and it sits close to where Juventus Zurigo first put down roots among Zurich's Italian community in 1922.
