Zlin

Zlín's handball rivalry runs across the region rather than the city.

The club traces back to 1920, though it spent much of the socialist era under other names, playing as TJ Gottwaldov from 1958 until 1990, when the city itself reverted to Zlín and the club followed. European runs have twice ended at the same stage: the women lost the Cup Winners' Cup final in 1984 and again in 1986.

Players who came through the women's academy scattered across Europe rather than staying put — Jana Simerská and Petr Hejtmánek went to France, Jana Arnoštová to Germany, Vendula Aiglová and Iva Zámorská to Norway. Jiří Tiller, who retired in 2025, was among the more recent men to carry the Zlín name into the national team setup, following a line that stretched back through figures like František Nesrsta.

The club now plays out of the Datart Hall in Zlín, in blue and yellow, still measured most sharply against Olomouc when the two Moravian sides meet.
