About the player
Darryl Bakola won the Coupe Gambardella with Marseille's youth side in 2024, the club's first success in that competition since 1979, before making his senior debut for Marseille against Le Havre in January 2025, a match Marseille won 5-1. He moved through the youth ranks at Agny, Racing Club de France and Red Star before joining Marseille's academy, and represented France at U17, U18 and U20 level, scoring for both the U17 and U18 sides.
In February 2026 he transferred to Sassuolo from Marseille on a contract running to 2030. He made his Serie A debut against Atalanta and started in the Coppa Italia against Cesena, where he set up a goal. Across his opening matches for the club he has recorded two assists in six appearances in all competitions.
Born in Clichy-la-Garenne, Bakola is of Congolese descent through the Republic of the Congo, though he holds French nationality and has so far represented France exclusively at youth level.
