Leonel Pérez

Leonel Pérez came through the youth ranks at Huracán and, once he made his professional debut in January 2025, played as an undisputed starter through a campaign that carried Huracán to the final of the Torneo Apertura, where the team lost 0–1 to Platense. By September of that year Huracán renewed his contract running to 2028.

That security did not stop Grêmio from coming in for him. In February 2026 the Brazilian club agreed a deal for 50% of his economic rights, tying Pérez to Grêmio until the end of 2029. Further bonuses of up to US$ 3 million were attached to the remaining half of his rights, conditional on him featuring in at least 60% of matches, while Grêmio also secured options to buy up additional percentages of his rights in the following two years.

In August 2026, Grêmio sent him back to Argentina on a season-long loan to Racing Club, with a purchase option worth US$ 3.5 million attached. He has since made 19 appearances for Racing. Internationally, Pérez has represented Argentina at Under-20 level and received his first call-up to the senior squad in 2025.
