The 3. Slovenská hokejová liga table did not come easily to a club used to sitting outside the medal positions, but in the 2011–12 season HK Iskra Partizánske topped it.
The line-up carried the surname Iskra, taken from the workers' sports society that formed it in 1974, long before ice hockey in the town had any prospect of reaching the Extraliga. Liga, and derby weekends against MŠK Púchov and HC Prievidza carry more weight locally than the league table does.
Games are played at the Zimný štadión Partizánske, a rink that holds 1,600 standing and has never needed to hold more.
Two names run through the club's record books rather than one: Ondrej Školka pulled on the jersey 282 times, more than anyone else to wear it, while Libor Káčer scored more than anyone else did, 406 points from 219 appearances, a scoring rate the club has not matched since.
