In 2013 the club simply stopped. Financial trouble that had been building for years finally caught up with it.
The original club had been registered on 28 October 1992, after an organising committee formed that January, and the town's ice rink — built in 1994, with room for 4,500 across seated and standing sections — outlasted the club that first filled it.
On the ice, the club has made its living in the 2. hokejová liga, winning the Slovakia East group three times — in 1996/1997, 1999/2000 and most recently 2021/2022 — the last of those good enough to earn promotion to the TIPOS SHL for 2023/2024. That stay lasted one season before relegation sent them back down. Igor Salata remains the club's own measuring stick, having scored 183 points in 229 games across its history.
