That senior side, HC Oceláři Třinec, grew out of SK Třinec, formed in 1929, and the junior team has run in its shadow ever since, competing in the Extraliga juniorů under records that stretch back to the 2001–2002 season and formally taking the U20 designation in 2015–2016. The club still calls itself Oceláři — the Steelworkers — at every level.

Titles have come in clusters rather than a steady trickle: the U20s took the Extraliga juniorů in 2016, 2019, 2024 and again in 2026, with an older U18 crown collected in 2002, 2015 and 2023. The 2024/25 season brought recognition beyond the ice, when the academy was named the best in Czech hockey.

Games against HC Vítkovice Ridera carry the weight of the Moravian-Silesian derby even at junior level.
