Västervik IK

Västervik currently play in HockeyEttan, having dropped out of HockeyAllsvenskan at the end of the 2023-24 season. The relegation followed a financial crisis that ran through 2024 and 2025, with the club reporting a deficit of nearly 7 million kronor before a rescue operation kept it in business.

Vikarna, as the club is known locally, exist because Västerviks AIS decided in 1971 to drop ice hockey and concentrate on football. Local enthusiasts broke away and started Västerviks Ishockeyklubb on 28 April that year rather than see the sport disappear from the city. The club spent decades in the lower leagues before reaching HockeyAllsvenskan for the first time in 2016, winning the HockeyEttan qualification series to get there. Five years later, in the 2020-21 season, they finished fifth in the regular season and reached the semi-finals.

Home games are played at LF Arena, which opened in 1984 under the name Tjusthallen and only took its current name in autumn 2024, in the middle of the club's financial troubles. Among the names to have come through the club, Niklas Dacke stands out: his number 22 has been retired.

The fixture that matters most is against Vimmerby HC, the Tjustderby, a local rivalry that keeps its edge regardless of which division either side is playing in.
