About

The Polish Volleyball Cup is the premier national knockout tournament for both men’s and women’s volleyball in Poland. Organised jointly by the Polish Volleyball Federation (PZPS) and the Professional Volleyball League (PLS), it stands as the second most prestigious competition in the country after the domestic leagues. The men’s and women’s editions both trace their origins to 1932, although the schedule was irregular in its early decades, with significant interruptions between 1937 and 1980. Since the 1980/1981 season, the event has been held annually under its current name, often featuring sponsor titles such as PKO BP.

The structure of the men’s tournament typically involves approximately 70 teams across various divisions. Lower-league sides enter through preliminary qualifying rounds to reach the Round of 16, where they join eight top-flight PlusLiga clubs. These matches are contested as single legs. The subsequent quarter-finals feature the top six PlusLiga teams alongside the two remaining qualifiers. The competition concludes with a Final Four event at a neutral venue, comprising semi-finals and the championship match. In the 2024/2025 season, the final was hosted in Kraków.

Winners include ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle for the men, who hold ten titles, while Grupa Azoty Chemik Police leads the women’s category with the same number of victories. The tournament provides an opportunity for lower-tier clubs to face elite opponents, occasionally resulting in notable upsets. The current men’s title was secured by Jastrzębski Węgiel, defeating Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie in the final. For the women, PGE Budowlani Łódź claimed the most recent honour.
