Olympía 4-1 Placense
Olympía saw off Placense 4-1 in the sixth round of the Apertura at their home ground on Thursday evening. The hosts moved further clear at the top of the table while their visitors' winless run stretched to five matches without a victory.
There is no value left at that number for Placense, who sit fifth with just four points from six outings. Four defeats already and only one win to show for their opening six games. Things came to a head against Olympía, who had looked sharp in their previous fixture with a 2-2 draw against Estrella Roja.
The visitors had started brighter, beating Atlético Independiente 2-1 in their most recent outing, but that form evaporated quickly. They lost to Choloma, Genesis, and Real España in their last five before this match. By then, the gap between the two sides was already visible in their results.
Olympía controlled the tempo with 55 per cent possession and registered ten shots on target compared to Placense's two. The visitors managed more attacks overall, 92 to 101, but could not find the back of the net beyond a single consolation. There were three yellow cards for the away side and none for the hosts.
The result extends Olympía's unbeaten run to six matches and keeps them four points clear at the summit. Placense's goal difference remains poor and their campaign has gone off the rails after that solitary victory. The clean-sheet run came to an end for Olympía, but the three points were never in doubt once they took control.
