Winterthur and Stade Lausanne-Ouchy played out a 1:1 draw in the fifth round of the Challenge League on Thursday evening. The match finished level after M. Sartoretti opened the scoring with a penalty in the tenth minute, only for F. Rohner to equalise deep into stoppage time. Neither side managed to take all three points despite a contest that swung toward the hosts for long stretches.
Sartoretti's spot-kick gave Winterthur an early lead, and they built on that advantage through the first half. The visitors responded with a series of substitutions as the game opened up, bringing on L. Zuffi just after the restart. More changes followed on both benches, with V. Tritten and N. Sutter going on together for the hosts in the fifty-seventh minute.
Discipline began to fray as the match progressed. A. Marchesano picked up a yellow card in the fifty-eighth minute, while S. Diaby joined him on the book in the seventy-ninth. S. Cueni and T. Golliard also received cautions, the latter coming in the final seconds of the match.
Winterthur dominated the numbers in most categories but could not convert that control into a winner. They held 53 per cent possession and registered eight shots on target compared to the visitors' six. The hosts created four big chances while their opponents managed two, yet the difference between the sides was minimal — and the final tally reflected that balance.
The result leaves Winterthur fifth in the table with eight points from five games. Stade Lausanne-Ouchy remain top of the division on eleven points after three wins and two draws. The hosts had been running out of games on a good run before this, while the visitors have been holding every card in their favour so far this season.
