Norrköping held on for a 2:1 victory over second-placed Falkenberg at Nya Parken on Sunday evening. C. Nyman struck twice in the first half to put the hosts ahead, but G. Aguda pulled one back after the break. The result keeps Norrköping five points clear at the summit of the Superettan.
The breakthrough came in the 32nd minute when Nyman found the net, and he doubled the advantage ten minutes later. Falkenberg had their chances but could not find a way through before the interval. By then the hosts were already in control of the tempo.
Aguda made it 2:1 in the 66th minute and the game opened up after that. Norrköping made three changes around the hour mark, bringing on H. Kallstrom, O. Lindberg and L. Borgstrom. Falkenberg responded with their own substitutions, but the visitors could not find an equaliser.
The statistics tell only part of the story. Norrköping registered 90 attacks to Falkenberg's 85, with both sides landing four shots on target. The hosts held 52 per cent possession and won seven corners compared to five. What mattered more was how they managed the game after going ahead.
Norrköping move five points clear at the top with a game in hand. Falkenberg remain in second but the gap is now significant. The hosts have won four straight matches, while the visitors have dropped points in three of their last five outings.
