Egypt beat Morocco 3:0 in the African Championship on 17 September 2026, a result that tightens the gap at the top of the table. The visitors had already won 3:0 against Morocco back in 2023, so this was familiar territory for both sides.
Before the match Egypt sat first with six points from two games, Morocco second with three. After the final whistle the hosts dropped a point further behind, while Egypt moved to four games unbeaten across all competitions.
Morocco's recent form had been uneven — they came off a 3:1 win over Gambia on 16 September, but before that came three straight 0:3 defeats to Chad, Tunisia and Egypt. Egypt's own run included a 3:1 victory over Gambia on 15 September, followed earlier losses to Greece and Turkey.
With no minute-by-minute account available, the result speaks for itself: Egypt took control early and never let go. The hosts switched off at the back, and the visitors converted their chances cleanly.
By then Egypt had already proved they could go toe-to-toe with Morocco. This time they didn't just match them — they pulled away. Three wins from three in this tournament, and the table reflects it clearly.
