DR Congo beat Central Africa 3:0 in the African Championship on Wednesday evening. The result leaves the home side bottom of the table with zero points from three games. To be fair, the visitors were not exactly flying high either before kick-off.
Central Africa have now lost every match they've played this tournament. Their recent defeats read like a catalogue of heavy defeats — 0:3 against Cameroon and 0:3 against Rwanda. By then, the pattern was already clear to anyone watching.
DR Congo sit third after three games with just three points from one win. They've already lost twice, including a 1:3 defeat to Rwanda on Tuesday. Their recent record shows a team still finding its feet in this competition.
And here's the thing about this result — neither side has much to celebrate. Central Africa's campaign has gone backwards from the start, while DR Congo's single victory does little to suggest they're ready to challenge for anything.
The final scoreline tells you everything you need to know about this fixture. Three goals down and no response from the hosts. The gap in quality between these two sides was visible from the first whistle.
