Žilina Hold Firm to Extend Winning Run Against Podbrezová
Žilina secured a 3-1 victory over Podbrezová in the Slovak Superliga's seventh round on Saturday evening. The hosts took control through two first-half goals before extending their advantage early in the second period. Podbrezová pulled one back late, but the result leaves the visitors still searching for consistency.

Žilina made three changes at the interval, and M. Chrien came on to complete his brace in the fifty-ninth minute. By then the game was largely settled, though Podbrezová earned a late penalty that F. Kosa converted in the ninety-fifth minute to add some gloss to the result.
To be fair, Podbrezová created more opportunities and registered ten shots on target compared to Žilina's six. They managed only one big chance, all of it wasted. Žilina were more clinical in front of goal, and that efficiency is what separates the top half from the rest of the table.
The win moves Žilina further clear with fifteen points from six games, still one behind the leaders. Podbrezová remain in sixth place with ten points from six matches. The hosts are unbeaten in five across all competitions, while the visitors have lost three of their last seven league outings.
