Viktoria Kobzar joins Las Vegas volleyball club
The Russian setter, who has changed country almost every season since 17, explains why she chose the American league over returning to Russia.
Viktoria Kobzar has signed with the Las Vegas Aviators, taking her career to the United States a year after a Turkey move collapsed.
The Russian setter has moved countries almost every season since she was 17, starting in France before spells in Italy, Turkey and Russia. Asked why she picked the American league this time, she pointed to the National Volleyball League, which lacks a fully professional circuit.
Kobzar said she is aiming for a place in the Russian national team this season, working under head coach Konstantin Ushakov. Kobzar said overseas experience bolsters the national squad, already stocked with expats like Tolok, Fedorovtseva and Markova. American play runs faster and runs more varied sets than Russia.
