About the player
Eleven league matches in the second half of the 2021–22 season, and Luka Škaričić finished it with a title: NK Varaždin won the Druga HNL and went up. He had arrived that February on loan from HNK Hajduk Split.
At Hajduk he played for the U19s and the reserve side through 2020–21 and into the following season, and won the Croatian U-19 championship in 2020–21. The senior breakthrough never came: friendlies, yes, but no competitive appearance for the first team. When the loan ended in June 2023 he returned to Split and again did not play for the senior squad. The following month he moved to Varaždin permanently on a free transfer, and later extended his contract.
At U21 level he has three caps and one goal. He has not been called up by the senior side.
His clearest afternoon in a Varaždin shirt came in October 2024 against Gorica: a goal, his first for the club, and an assist. Sofascore named him player of the match. The season before, Varaždin had reached the final of the Croatian Super Cup.
