Gian-Luca Itter

Gian-Luca Itter came through Eintracht Frankfurt's academy before VfL Wolfsburg signed him in 2015, and it was there that he made his senior breakthrough, playing for the second team and then the first team between 2017 and 2019 and racking up seven Bundesliga appearances. SC Freiburg paid €2.5 million to trigger his release clause in June 2019, and he spent the following seasons split between Freiburg's reserve side and the first team.

The move that defined his career came in January 2021, when he joined SpVgg Greuther Fürth on loan from Freiburg. The loan was extended for the following campaign, and he became a regular at left-back as Fürth won the 2. Bundesliga and secured promotion to the top flight, with the defender making 24 Bundesliga appearances that season. Greuther Fürth made the move permanent in June 2022, on an undisclosed fee, and he has stayed at the club since, playing on in the 2. Bundesliga after Fürth's relegation in 2023.

Itter's development was recognised early: at youth level he progressed through Germany's age groups from the U15s up to the U20s, and in 2016 he was awarded the Fritz Walter Medal in Gold at U17 level. A senior call-up for the national team has not followed.
