Aalborg Volley

In 2001 Aalborg HIK won the Danish men's championship and the Danish Cup in the same season. The team took the title again in 2002. Those medals belong to a club that no longer exists under that name, and they are the reason Aalborg volleyball still has a past to point to.

On 17 February 2016 HIK and VK74 Aalborg merged into Aalborg Volley, known as AAV. The aim was one volleyball community in the city, open to every level and age, in place of two clubs sharing the same pool of players and volunteers. The new club has won no national title of its own.

The two halves of the club now sit on different rungs. The women play in the top-flight Volleyligaen. The men are in the second-tier 1. Division, so the men's side has to work its way back to the level where HIK once won championships. The main rival is ASV Aarhus.

Training moves between Aalborg Stadionhal 1, where the men play their home matches, and the hall at Aalborg Katedralskole.
