Agropecuario sits in Primera Nacional, the country's second tier, a level the club reached inside its first six years of existence. The team from Carlos Casares has stayed there since, with a run to the play-off semi-final in 2017/18 and a first-place finish in the opening stage of the 2020 season among its better showings.

The club exists because Bernardo Grobocopatel, one of the country's largest soy producers, became its president to see that through. What followed moved fast: regional football in Argentino A and B through 2012 and 2013, a first Federal B campaign in 2014, then a penalty shootout win over San Martín de Formosa in 2016 that opened the door to Federal A. Agropecuario won that division in 2016/17 and went up to Primera Nacional at six years old, younger than any club to reach that level in Argentine football.

Grobocopatel's soy business gave the club its identity along with its funding — El Sojero, the nickname everyone uses, translates as the soy farmer, and an early attempt to call the team Laucha, the mouse, never caught on. Home games are played at Estadio Ofelia Rosenzuaig in Carlos Casares, holding 8,000.

Enzo Díaz came through the club's own ranks and drew attention from Manchester United scouts in 2017 before his 2019 move to Talleres, the clearest case of Agropecuario producing a player rather than importing one. Carlos Auzqui, who had spells at River Plate, San Lorenzo and Ferencváros, later returned to wear the shirt himself. Regional rivalries with clubs such as Deportivo Casares remain informal, without the weight of a recognised derby. The one national trophy on the wall is that Federal A title from 2016/17, alongside four Liga Casarense championships won closer to home — 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2019, the local competition the club still measures itself against from the years before Grobocopatel's project pushed it further.
