That changed in 2024, when Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero won the Copa Argentina, the only major title of his career, capping a run of 24 league appearances and a goal for the club that season.

He came through the youth ranks at Independiente , debuting for the first team in August 2014 and making six appearances in the Primera División before a move to Defensa y Justicia in 2016, where he also featured in the Copa Sudamericana. A loan spell at All Boys in 2018 brought an earlier taste of silverware: the club won the Primera B Metropolitana and earned promotion, with Barrios a regular in defence.

What followed was a run through Argentina's lower divisions rather than a settled career at the top. He moved to San Martín de San Juan in 2019, then to Nueva Chicago during the pandemic-interrupted 2020 season. A switch to Quilmes in September 2021 came after unpaid wages at Nueva Chicago, and he stayed for 32 matches across two seasons, scoring once. Spells at Agropecuario Argentino and then Central Córdoba followed, each move made as a free agent.

Since joining Barracas Central in early 2025, Barrios has made 30 league appearances for the club and added outings in the Copa Sudamericana and Copa Argentina without troubling the scoresheet.
