Gastón Matías Campi

Barracas Central signed Gastón Matías Campi as a free agent in January 2026 on a one-year deal: in a match against River Plate that same month, he handled the ball inside his own box, and neither the referee nor VAR flagged it.

Campi came through the youth ranks at Racing Club, making his first-team debut in 2013 and winning the Argentine championship with the club the following year. A loan spell at Atlético de Rafaela followed before Estudiantes signed him in 2017, where he added continental football to his résumé across the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana.

A loan to Portugal's Chaves in 2019 preceded a move that shaped much of his career: Trabzonspor took him on loan from Estudiantes that July, and he stayed in Turkey through further loan spells. Spells at Fatih Karagümrük, Arouca and Yeni Malatyaspor followed before he returned to Argentina.

San Lorenzo signed him in 2022 and made him captain. In May 2024, he scored the winning goal against Liverpool in the Copa Libertadores. In 2024, Campi went public over months of unpaid wages, seeking legal advice and declaring himself a free agent, and that August he gave a heated press conference blaming the referee after the club's elimination from the Libertadores. He also played through a dislocated finger sustained against Platense in March 2024, having it put back in place on the pitch before continuing.

A move to Ecuador's Barcelona SC followed in January 2025, where he made 37 appearances and scored three goals before his exit in 2026 and the switch to Barracas Central.
