About the player
Jhonatan Candia came through the ranks at Liverpool in Montevideo, going on to make 45 league appearances and score five goals before leaving in 2018.
He crossed the Río de la Plata to Argentina in 2020 to join Arsenal de Sarandí as a free agent. His best individual campaign came at Huracán, where in 2021–22 he scored four goals and set up another in the league, adding four more goals and an assist in the Copa de la Liga Profesional to finish the season with eight goals and two assists in all competitions.
Rosario Central signed him for the following season, and in 2023 he went out on loan to Chile's Audax Italiano. He returned to Argentina in 2024, joining Barracas Central as a free agent, where he now wears the number 20 shirt.
Candia was capped twice for Uruguay's under-20 side in 2014 but has not featured for the senior national team.
