In Tokat, volleyball sits inside a municipal sports club, not apart from it. It began in 1994 as Tokat Belediye Plevnespor.

The men's volleyball side took its place in the Efeler Ligi , the Turkish first league, for the 2008/2009 season and has stayed there since. Its best league finish is fifth, in 2018/2019. The same year brought the result that took the club outside Turkey. At the 2019 Balkan Cup in North Macedonia, Belediye Plevne beat Prishtina Volley of Kosovo 3-0, then GIO Strumica, a home side, by the same score.

It also earned a place in the 2019/2020 Challenge Cup of the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV). The team reached the third round.

At home the team plays in the Ali Yücel Spor Salonu, which holds 2,500. For the 2024-25 season the club dropped Plevnespor from its name and became Tokat Belediyespor.

No fixture in this material carries the weight of a rivalry, and the club's story runs through its own results and its own town.
