Niksar

Niksar Kapalı Spor Salonu, the covered hall in the town of Niksar, in Tokat province, was built in 1976 and opened only in 1980. It came down in 2021 over earthquake-safety concerns. The replacement is designed for 500 spectators and is still under construction.

The hall was demolished in the same year that the volleyball side won promotion to the Turkish Men's Volleyball First League, which they did in the 2021–22 season. The men who went up had therefore lost the building that had housed the club's volleyball for decades, and the ground plan for the new hall was still on paper.

The team belongs to Niksar Belediyespor, the municipal multi-sport club. It began as Niksar İdmanyurdu and dates from 11 April 1926, well before volleyball became its most visible branch. Niksar had been in the top flight once before, the Efeler Ligi in 2011–12, and finished 12th. The return came a decade later. In 2023–24 the side reached the Efeler Ligi play-off semi-finals.

Nothing official in volleyball has followed from any of it. The club has no league or cup title, and its best runs have ended in play-offs. It also still has no finished hall of its own, and the town has not seen a game in the new building.
