Beltinci

NK Beltinci, formed in 1949, folded in 2006 under financial pressure. On 14 July 2006, a new side was registered under the name ND Žuti Marki; a year later, in 2007, it took the name it plays under now, ND Beltinci.

Its peak had come in the mid-1990s, when it finished fifth in the 1. SNL in 1994/95, sandwiched between sixth-place finishes the seasons either side of it. In the Yugoslav years it had been a fixture at regional level, taking the Pomurska Liga seven times. The new club built a different kind of record, working up through the lower tiers: champions of the sixth division in 2007/08, of the Pomurska Liga again in 2011/12, and of 3. SNL – East twice, in 2015/16 and 2017/18, adding the Murska Sobota regional cup in 2015/16 and again in 2018/19.

Games against NK Nafta 1903 of Lendava carry the weight of a Pomurje derby, sharpened by matches against Odranci, Grad and Tromejnik from the surrounding villages, all played out at Športni park Beltinci under yellow and blue — a ground that holds 4,000, of which 1,441 are seated.

No one from the club is remembered the way Štefan Škaper is: top scorer of the entire league in 1993/94, then again the following season.
