Bohemians

Eleven League of Ireland titles are stacked in the Bohemians record book, running from 1924 to 2009, and none of them required promotion first: Bohemians have never dropped out of the top flight since it began. Seven FAI Cups sit alongside them, along with a Setanta Sports Cup and a run of Leinster Senior Cups stretching back to the 1890s.

The club grew out of Dublin's Bell's Academy and the Royal Hibernian Military School, where students formed it in 1890. Red and black, adopted in 1894, have been the colours since, and the nickname that stuck was The Gypsies — Bohs, to supporters at Dalymount Park, home since 1901. In 1921 Bohemians and Shelbourne founded the League of Ireland between them, though it is Shamrock Rovers who now supply the fixture known as the Dublin Derby.

Tommy Kelly holds the club's appearance record at 575 games. Tony O'Connell signed its first professional contract in 1969, and Owen Heary captained the side to that last title in 2009. Ownership has stayed with the members throughout, a structure tested twice, in 1988 and again in 2006, when financial trouble pushed the club toward selling Dalymount Park itself. The ground changed hands anyway in 2015, bought by Dublin City Council for €3.8m, with Bohemians staying on as tenants of the pitch they once owned outright.

No league title has followed the one from 2009.
