Derry City Women

Derry City Women go into this season looking to re-establish themselves after a career spent oscillating between the Women's Premiership and the Championship below it. They play at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium, sharing the ground with the men's side, though the seated capacity of 3,700 rarely fills for their fixtures.

The team was set up in 2002 by Declan Devine, timed to mark the men's club's 75th anniversary, and started out not in Northern Ireland at all but in the Republic's Inishowen Football League. Only in 2007 did they switch into the Northern Ireland Women's Football Association setup.

2015 was the one year everything landed at once: the NIWFA Championship title, promotion to the Women's Premiership, the Foyle Cup and the Championship League Cup all in the same season. It didn't hold — a bottom-place finish in the Premiership in 2016 sent them straight back down, and it took until 2017 to win the Championship again and force a second promotion. There's no FAI Cup or Premiership title on the list, a point worth making only because the men's FAI Cup win in 2022 has a habit of getting mixed up with the women's record in some accounts.

On it, the games that matter most are the ones against Finn Harps and Coleraine, rivalries inherited wholesale from the men's fixture list rather than built from scratch by the women's team, but no less felt for that.
