Dundee

Dundee's only league championship came in 1961/62, under Bob Shankly, and it remains the single top-flight title the club has ever taken. The following season the same side reached the semi-final of the European Cup, a run that still marks the furthest Dundee have gone in Europe.

The trophy cabinet opened earlier than that. The Scottish Cup arrived in 1910, the club's first major honour, and in the early 1950s Dundee won the Scottish League Cup in successive years, 1952 and 1953, becoming the first club to hold the trophy outright. A second League Cup followed in 1974, beaten finalists Celtic, and it stands as the last major honour the club has won.

Dundee formed in 1893, when Dundee East End and Dundee Our Boys merged to enter the Scottish Football League. The ground moved once, in 1899, from Carolina Port to Dens Park, and Dens Park has held every home game since.

The years after the 1974 League Cup were harder. Frequent relegations from the top flight set in from the late 1980s, and in 2010 the club entered administration and was docked 25 points, yet stayed up regardless — a survival the club came to call the "Dee-Fiant" season. Between the major honours, Dundee have gone back to the second tier and come back up six times, most recently in 2022/23.
