The Egyptian women reached an African final in 2023, and lost it 0-3 to Kenya, a result that still carried them into the 2025 World Championship.
Egypt's federation dates back to 1947, and split off from the basketball administration two years later. The national side plays as "The Pharaohs," and for its biggest qualifiers it fills the main hall of the Cairo Stadium Indoor Halls Complex.
The record at the African Championship carries the weight here: three titles, in 1976, 1989 and 2003.
Kenya is the name that matters most.
