ŁKS Commercecon Łódź Women

Volleyball in Łódź predates the wider club that would come to house it. A section formed under the ŁKS banner in the late 1920s, and when it needed rebuilding after the war, Eugeniusz Krupiński and Ryszard Felisiak reassembled it in March 1958, bringing in a team from KS Victory to give the new side a core of players.

The club now plays under the sponsorship name Commercecon, at the Łódź Sport Arena, which opened in 2018. Its nickname, Knights of Spring, actually belongs to the football side of the wider ŁKS organisation, earned for finishing seasons strongly once winter breaks ended, but the whole club has carried it since.

Łódź has won the Polish title three times, in 1983, 2019 and 2023. The Polish Cup came earlier and more often, three times through the 1970s and 1980s. In Europe the closest the club has come is a runners-up finish in the CEV Cup in 2022, beaten in the final after getting further than any ŁKS women's side had managed before.

The Łódź Derby against PGE Grot Budowlani Łódź gives the city its own fixture, two clubs from the same streets meeting with the history between them adding an edge that a league table alone would not explain.

A European trophy is the one line still missing from the record: two finals, no title, the closest of them lost on the biggest stage the club has reached.
