Wroclaw Women

The name on the shirts has changed more often than the colours. Before it became #VolleyWrocław, officially Volleyball Wrocław S.A., the side played as KS Gwardia Wrocław, then Impel Gwardia Wrocław, then Impel Wrocław. White and green have stayed throughout. The women's section was set up in 1945 and has always had its own history.

The old Gwardia years produced bronze medals in the Polish Championship in 1958 and 1960, then a third in 1986. The Polish Cup was harder to win.

The best stretch came in 2013/14. Bronze followed in 2015/16, the most recent medal.

Players who went on to national prominence have passed through the club, among them Joanna Wołosz, Milena Rosner and Anna Werblińska. Recent years brought imports such as the American setter Micha Hancock and the Argentine Carolina Costagrande. Alongside them the club has fielded its own academy graduates, including Martyna Wysoczańska and Lena Frybel. They play in the TAURON Liga, at Hala Orbita, a hall with 2,814 seats.

There is no derby with a name of its own. The match against Pałac Bydgoszcz is the one described as a clash of neighbours.
