Maccabi Netanya

The name came from the trade that filled the town's workshops. Netanya was the centre of Israel's diamond industry in the 1940s, and the club took The Diamonds from it — a nickname that outlasted the industry itself and now sits on the ground where the team plays, the Miriam Stadium, opened in October 2012 and known locally as the Diamond Stadium.

Maccabi Netanya were founded in 1934. Five league titles came between 1971 and 1983 — a run that started with the championship of 1970–71 and ended with the one in 1982–83, with three more in between.

The season that stands apart is 1977–78. Netanya took the league and the State Cup in the same year, and the Super Cup followed. Five years later the team won its last championship, and by then the shirts had settled into their present form: yellow and black have been the club colours since 1975, replacing the green-and-white stripes worn before.

The League Cup arrived twice, in 1982 and 1983, at the tail of that same period. After it, the honours thin out considerably — a Toto Cup Leumit in 2004–05.

The most recent piece of silverware is the Toto Cup of 2022–23.
