The senior side's collision with Uralochka-NTMK in the Ural Derby carries the weight in Chelyabinsk; the reserve team plays in its shadow. That is the arrangement Dynamo-Metar-2 exists inside: a club that traces back to 1972, when Tekhnolog formed at the Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute and became Politekhnik four years later on entry to the Soviet First League. The parent side has since been CMS, then Metar, then Avtodor-Metar, settling on Dynamo-Metar in 2017; the reserve team carries that lineage without ever having needed a name change of its own.

Its business is the Youth League, not the top table. Silver in 2021/22, bronze in three seasons before that — 2018/19, 2019/20, 2020/21 — and, stepping up an age bracket, third place in Higher League "B" in 2024/25. None of it out of place for a side whose purpose is to hand on players rather than collect medals: Ekaterina Gamova came through this system, as did Evgenia Startseva.

Mikhail Shchedrov takes over as head coach for 2026/27. It plays in white and blue at the Metar-Sport Sports Complex on Chernyasskaya Street, 1,500 seats that rarely need to hold more than a few hundred for a Youth League fixture, in the same industrial end of Chelyabinsk that raised the club whose name it carries.
