NA Suruchi Sangha

The ground in New Alipore is a playground first and a football venue second — an open plot inside a residential pocket of southern Kolkata, with no published capacity and no stand worth the name.

Suruchi Sangha was established in 1952 as a club for the locality, and it is still better known across Kolkata for its Durga Puja pandal, which has taken awards for creative work, than for anything on a pitch. The men's side reached the Calcutta Premier Division the long way, through the 1st Division title in 2023–24, settled by a 3–1 win over Kalighat Sports Lovers Association in the final.

The women's team has travelled further in less time. Second in Group A of the 2023–24 Calcutta Women's Football League with 19 points, it went through to the Championship Round and from there to Indian Women's League 2 — the club's first appearance at national level, in 2024–25. Third place in the 2024 competition followed.

Sujata Mahata is the name people in Bengal women's football attach to the club. She finished the 2022–23 Calcutta league as its leading scorer with 23 goals, all of them for Suruchi Sangha, in the seasons before the side had anywhere national to take that form.
