In the preliminary round of the 2025/26 Ukrainian Cup, a side from Uzhhorod came to Sambir and left with nothing. One goal settled it, 1:0.

The team that won that tie is not quite the same thing as the reserve side that once carried the Nyva name in Ternopil. That earlier structure came and went — dissolved in 2002, with a separate club built on what was left of it, then brought back in 2017. The line running through it all is the senior club in Ternopil, for which this remains a farm team.

What changed the address was a merger. In 2024 the reserve side joined with the amateur club Sambir, and from the 2024/25 season it has played as Sambir-Nyva-2, based in Sambir rather than Ternopil, with the supporters known as the Sambirchany. Home matches are at the Lev Brovarskyi Stadium, which holds 2,500, of them 1,918 seated.

The debut season in Ukraine's Second League, Group A, ended with eighth place in the regular championship.

Older business is thinner and further back: the reserves took the Ternopil Oblast Cup in 2001, and finished third in the regional championship two years before that.
