Odense Volleyball Women

The women's team of Odense Volleyball open this season in the 1. Division West, the second tier of Danish volleyball. That is well below where they stood in the late 2000s, when they were the side to beat in the country.

The name itself is new. Until 2023 the club went by two names side by side: Fortuna Odense Volley, which had replaced VK Fortuna 73 Odense in 1997, and BK Marienlyst Odense, in use from 2000. Marienlyst-Fortuna Odense was the joint name in 2022–23. In 2023 it became Odense Volleyball, and the men's team has done most of the winning under it. They took the Danish championship and the Danish Cup in 2023, 2024 and 2025, and added the Super Cup in 2025. Local rivals DHV Odense have had to watch that run from close by.

The women's honours belong to an earlier period. Their first championship and first cup came in 1991–92. Then came a long gap, and after it the best years: three straight titles in 2005–06, 2006–07 and 2007–08, each with a cup, and a fifth title in 2009–10. The last cup followed in 2010–11, which makes seven cups in all. The team has not won either competition since.

The player most tied to that stretch is the American Caley Carter-Knudsen, who was at the club from 2004 to 2009. Her time there takes in the three consecutive titles. The Japanese international Miyuki Kano arrived the season after she left, and stayed for 2010–11.
