It had earned the tie by beating Dnipro of Cherkasy 1-0, and the last-32 meeting ended 0-4.

Everything after it stayed local. Through the 1990s and then into the 2000s and 2010s the club's second team — later Oleksandriya-Amethyst, built around the Amethyst academy — played in the Kirovohrad regional championship and the national amateur competition, and never entered a professional league.

That changed in June 2024, when the reserve team was registered for professional football and entered the Second League for the 2024/25 season, in Group B. Viktor Bitsyura took charge.
