Partizani

Tirana has two clubs that trace back to opposite corners of the same city's history, and Partizani was built to answer the other one. Founded on 4 February 1946 by the Albanian National Liberation Army under the name Ushtria, it stood for the military and the working class against KF Tirana's civilian following, and the Derby of the Capital still carries that division. A second local fixture, against Dinamo Tirana, is known simply as the Communist Derby.

The club took the nickname Demat e Kuq, the Red Bulls, and for decades that identity was backed by results: seventeen league titles between 1947 and 1993 alone, with the trophy returning only twice since. Refik Resmja, who played from 1951 to 1963, was the scoring name of that era, followed by Robert Jashari, who managed 69 goals between 1962 and 1965.

The decline that followed is as much a part of the record as the titles. Partizani dropped out of the top flight in 2009, fell to the third division in 2011, and needed until 2014 to work its way back — a collapse that ended a run of seventeen straight seasons among Albania's elite. The 2019 championship closed that chapter; a further title followed in 2023.

The ground has moved with the club's fortunes. Qemal Stafa Stadium, standing at up to 35,000 in its earlier years, was demolished in 2016, and Partizani now plays in Tufinë at the Arena e Demave, a considerably smaller home finished in 2022 and holding under 4,000. European nights and the derby against KF Tirana are shifted to the Arena Kombëtare instead.
