Sturm Graz Women

The Messendorf Trainingszentrum holds 1,500 people. It is where the women's side of SK Sturm Graz plays its league football.

The team did not begin at Sturm at all. It grew out of FC Stattegg, a side that had been playing since 2004 and won the southern section of the 2. Frauenliga in 2008/09, which carried it into the Austrian top flight the following season. In May 2011 that whole women's department moved under the Sturm umbrella. For the first years the arrangement was visible in the name — the side played as SG SK Sturm Graz Damen / Stattegg — and only from 2014/15 did it appear simply as SK Sturm Graz. In June 2026 the club settled on SK Sturm Graz Frauen.

Promotion to the ÖFB-Damenbundesliga was confirmed in June 2013, and the club has stayed at that level since. The trophy record is thin: two second-division titles, in 2008/09 and 2012/13, and nothing yet in the Austrian championship or the cup.

The closest it has come was the 2021/22 cup final, and that is where the shape of Austrian women's football becomes clear. Sturm lost 0:2 to SKN St. Pölten . St. Pölten's grip on the league is also what has made Sturm's European appearances a matter of qualifying rounds rather than seeding — seven Champions League campaigns since 2016/17, none of them reaching a final, and a Europa Cup entry in 2025/26.
